Clark County, Nevada
There are 17 counties in the state of Nevada. Clark County (7,881 sq mi) was formed in 1908 and was named after William Andrews Clark, the US Senator from Montana who established the railroad between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Two million people (70 percent of the population of the state of Nevada) live in Clark County (2008). The county seat is in Las Vegas.
