Overton

Overton lies just north of the Valley of Fire, in the 50-mile-long Moapa Valley, 70 miles north of Las Vegas.

The Lost City Museum of Archeology, built in 1935, is the main attraction of Overton (721 S Moapa Valley Blvd; 397-2193). The museum displays Anasazi and Pueblo artifacts and tells the story of the "first ghost town" in Nevada, as the Lost City was inexplicably deserted by the native Indians about 1150 AD.

Overton Beach, on Lake Mead, offers a store, trailer and RV park, water-craft rental, and marina.
