Transportation
Citizens Area Transit (CAT) has 40 routes throughout the Las Vegas valley. Hours of operation are 5:30 am to 1:30 am. The fare is $2 (new rate as of January 2010). Have exact change, dollar bills or coins, as buses are not set up to make change. CAT coins, passes, and transfers are available. Note that transfers are free to complete a one-way trip within 120 minutes. Transfers are issued upon request at the time a fare is paid. You can buy CAT passes and coins online (www.catride.com), at the Downtown Transportation Center, and other pass outlets (call 228-7433). The Downtown Transportation Center is located at 300 N. Casino Center Blvd and is the major point for many CAT routes. The Strip is now serviced by The Deuce, a double-decker bus imported from England. The Deuce travels from the Downtown Transportation Center to the south end of the Strip (at 6675 Gilespie St), a seventeen-mile loop which averages two hours. Each bus seats 80 people, and has standing room for 17 more. A one-way ride in the air-conditioned (60°F) bus costs $3; 24-hour pass, $7. Available 24 hours. More and more double-decker buses are replacing the old buses around the valley, as they carry more passangers and use less space on the road. For CAT information, including lost and found, call 228-7433.
