Boulder Highway Photo TourBoulder Highway stretches 15 miles between Sahara Ave and Henderson, where it merges into highway 515-93-95, just past Horizon Dr, leading to Boulder City, 3 miles away. North of Sahara Ave, Boulder Highway becomes Fremont St and ends downtown at Fremont St Experience. Boulder Highway was built to connect Las Vegas to Boulder City, whose residents were construction workers at Hoover Dam. The first casino on Boulder Highway was Meadows Club, which opened in 1931. Today, several resorts are located on Boulder Highway (see map below); the "Boulder Strip" refers mostly to the stretch between Tropicana Ave and Desert Inn Rd. Boulder Highway is lined, on both sides, with many small, inexpensive motels, extended stay hotels, RV parks, fast food eateries, trailer parks, residential complexes, shopping centers, drug stores, car and auto parts dealers, and other types of businesses. A replica of the world-famous Welcome to the Fabulous Las Vegas sign was recently placed on Boulder Highway between Tropicana Ave and Flamingo Rd. Many of the Boulder Highway resorts are famous for their very inexpensive "food specials." Point the cursor on a resort's name to display a photo.
