Tipping
Tip (or gratuity): "a small present of money given directly to someone for performing a service or menial task." If you decide to tip someone in Las Vegas and do not know how much, here are some guidelines:
- Bartenders: $1 or $2 per drink.
- Cocktail servers: $1 or $2 per drink.
- Bellmen, doormen: $1 or $2 per bag.
- Concierge: $5 or more, depending on task.
- Hotel maids: $1 or $2 a day.
- Pool attendants: $1 or $2.
- Room service attendants: 15-20 percent. (Sometimes the tip is included in the bill.)
- Restaurant servers: 15-20 percent.
- Buffet servers: $1 or $2 per drink.
- Taxi drivers: 23 percent of fare (as taxed by IRS).
- Limo drivers: $15-$20 per hour.
- Tour guides: $1 or $2 per person at end of trip.
- Slot attendants, keno runners: $1 or $2 or more, depending on the help you receive.
- Masseuse, masseur: 15-20 percent.
- Dealers: make a bet for the dealer or tip a chip while you are winning.
- Child-care Attendants: $2 or $3 per hour.
