Oatman

Oatman, ArizonaOatman, 30 miles from Laughlin, in Arizona,
is an authentic gold mining small town which had its beginnings in 1906. Today, it is a tourist attraction on historic US Route 66,
the paved road between Los Angeles and Chicago, finished in the 1930s. Half a million people visit Oatman every year. Gift shops, wild burros, staged gun fights, costumed dancers offering free entertainment, restaurants, and majestic desert scenery are some of the attractions.

Several movies were filmed in Oatman: How the West was Won, Edge of Eternity, Universal Soldier, and Foxfire. The Oatman Hotel is where Clark Gable and Carol Lombard spent their wedding night.

Annual events include Bed Races, in January, Sidewalk Egg Fry at High Noon, in July, Gold Camp Days and International Burro Biscuit Toss, in September, and Christmas Bush Festival, In December.
