Monorails

Luxor monorailThere are three monorails (trams) between casinos on the Strip, all free of charge.

Excalibur <--> Luxor <--> Mandalay Bay (shown at right). From Excalibur to Mandalay Bay, it does not stop at Luxor. From Mandalay Bay to Excalibur, it stops at Luxor. Runs every 5-10 minutes between 4 am and 2 am.

Mirage <--> Treasure Island. Runs every few minutes from 9 am and 1 am.

Bellagio <--> Crystals (CityCenter) <--> Monte Carlo . Runs 24 hours..

The Las Vegas Monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail opened on July 15, 2004. This new four-mile transportation system ($650 million) has seven stations: MGM Grand, Bally's/Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's/Imperial Palace, Las Vegas Convention Center, Hilton, Sahara. It connects eight major resorts and nine convention facilities. The "world's first driverless public transit monorail" travels the entire route in about 15 minutes. It is designed to transport 3,200 passengers per hour, and it can reach 50 mph, at 18 ft above ground. There are currently nine trains, each with four cars; each car can seat 72 riders and there's standing room for 152 more riders. As of January 1, 2006, the fare is $5 one way, $12 unlimited one-day pass, and $28, unlimited three-day pass. Hours of operation are Mon-Thu 7 am-2 am and Fri-Sun 7 am-3 am.
