Area 51

Area 51 is a restricted military facility, about 150 miles north of Las Vegas, surrounded by the Nevada Test Site and the Nellis Air Force Range. The name, Area 51, may come from a designation appearing on an old map of the Nevada Test Site. The air space around the base is off-limits even to most military pilots. In the 1950s, the U2 spy plane was tested at this Air Force base.

Area 51 is thought of as housing UFOs and alien bodies recovered from the Roswell, New Mexico flying saucers crash.

For a visitor, it is just a desert area, and going too far signs spelling "use of deadly force authorized" will show up. Rachel is the only "town" close to Area 51, which includes Little A'Le'Inn diner where "earthlings are welcome." No accommodations are available.
